Really I love the light blue suits
I don't think it was quite 50-60 mph, but not sure.
We have a couple of 25-40 mph hills in our neighborhood that are really good with safe, natural tail outs (some uphill). Haven't done it much the last two years because if you fall (and you will), the road rash makes kiting really painful, maybe even dangerous if you are in the Columbia
90mm wheels, Randall II trucks, and there is a newer truck I've seen on the latest Sector 9s, high end Bones bearings, you can go way too fast _________________ Surfing is to keep the truly gifted from ruling the world.

If you want that kinda shit around here hit up Larch Mt above Multnomah Falls. About 12 miles of continuous narrow winding downhill road with some 180 degree turns so gotta control your speed. Used to ride it when we were building longboards back in the day. Could hardly walk afterward, but definitely a thrill. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

Yeah, I doubt they were reaching 50-60 mph as well, but still, not exactly a lot of margin for error in what they're doing... It's not too difficult to imagine one car pulling out of one driveway giving the world one fewer longboarders! _________________ "Resist much, obey little."

Carving hard and sliding the tail a bit works real well if you're not going too fast. However, I haven't tried a production board that does this quite the way I like it. Otherwise snapping your ankle and rolling works great. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

I have had a vehicle follow me, match speed, and read the speedometer. My max, ~42 mph, foolishly without protection. I would choose my routes and days carefully as there is little margin for error.
In the other sense of checking speed, powersliding is the norm, using a glove, and getting really low on your board, sliding the tail out. I never felt very comfortable doing that at any speed (and I never got a glove for it) so having both lanes and making wide turns to control and spill a bit of speed was my technique.
Finally, having an uphill tailout is the best. Trying to run off your board at any significant speed also generally leads to some injury as it is hard to go from standing to running 25 mph _________________ Surfing is to keep the truly gifted from ruling the world.

Here's a classic skate video from the NW, mostly Oregon, summer of 2006. Not as scary as the Claremont one because most of the video is from the vehicle instead of the helmet cam. It is still fast.

LMAO!
Those Canadians sure know how to have fun. Gotta love the vaporizer in the ambulance, playing hockey on skateboards, drinking beer while sliding through the slalom course.
We should have a course set up for the Gorge games right through downtown Hood River! _________________ Surfing is to keep the truly gifted from ruling the world.
