Welcome,
if like the last few high pressure systems
in 2009
bring your fog screen and small kite

over 40 mph yesterday

watch for rips along jetty
that will either carry your board out
or smash it on the rocks
also if you put your kite down by the jetty
there is no wind to relaunch

barnacles too Rolling Eyes
crusty old (phat not fat)
barnacles Laughing

I'll prolly go out early
around noon

...hate to say, beware of sharks. My buddy was right to next to a 12'er there last weekend. Scared the heck out of him. Another buddy there as well, dropped in after a jibe, and bumped into something of "substantial size", that immediatly took off ,so...... stay on your board. Smile

yea shit pokes up on you out there, never go out farther than you're willing to swim in, last year I spent about an hour swimming in from a ways out, little seals would poke up to check me out, scared the shit out of me, beware of sea lions too.

Hear say from 2 close friends of mine both of which are in theirs 40's and have been hardcore watermen for decades.

This winter on a calm day Ben and Jay were fishing out of Ben's 21' Bayliner on the reefs just south of South Beach for rockfish. On their last drift of the day Benny hooks a large lingcod and while reeling it to the boat a large white thing passes under the boat that Jay described as "the size of his Toyota truck". Immediately Ben's reel starts singing with no stopping the line take-out, then stops, so he starts reeling in the slack line. Moments later a huge whitey the size of the boat surfaces right off the port side within arms reach with the ling in his mouth smiling at Ben and Jay basically laughing at them as he heads off for another reel singing! Ben is forced to just tighten the drag and bust off the shark since he was only using 20 lb test against a fish weighing several tons.

Bottom line: THEY SEE US WAY MORE OFTEN THEN WE SEE THEM!!!!
