PostMon May 18, 09 6:33 pm    Question about Bar/Kite Combination Reply with quote

I am about to buy a new 2008 Liquid Force (Havoc) bar for my 07 Waroo kites. I just wanted to make sure that this bar will work well with my kites. Any one tried this bar/kite combination? Any feed back or suggestions?

Thanks!

The 2008 Liquid Force Bar is a good bar. I was trying to buy one from RealKiteboarding.com for $200, but they were sold out. They are the kind of bar that many companies are going to, with the depower below the bar and a nice long, clean throw. Did you find a good deal somewhere? It should work fine with your Waroos.

drtaamc,
in regards to your question, this new 2008 bar is $179.00 with free shipping. I think the distributer is based in Band. They also have new 2007 Slingshot bar for $200.00 (free shipping) and I am considering that bar as well as a possibility.

Does any one knows if one of these bars works better with Waroos than the other? Any preference?

I am inclined to go with a better deal for the newer Liquid Force model (and, if I am not mistaken, there is an advantage of 1:1 pressure in compare to 2:1 for 07 Slingshot bar).

You don't want a 2:1 bar for a Waroo. That's a pulley bar for a Slingshot T2 unless I'm mistaken. I hated that bar anyway. A bar is a bar is a bar as far as compatibility is concerned. Unless it has pulleys on it or its some weird bar that has different line lengths. It's mostly just what you prefer.

Put a nail in a telephone pole. Walk out the lines. Rig up the lines to the nail. Pull the bar all the way to you where its resting against the chickenloop. All the lines should be the same length for a Waroo and most other kites that I know of.

Ditto what Scribble said. I'd definitely take the Liquid Force over the Slingshot.

Many people I know find a bar they like and just use it for all their kites. I just finished replacing the Chicken Loop/sheeting line on my 2008 Eclipse bars with the new Naish Smart SLE loops. I don't like all the depower straps above the bar. It shortens the throw and it's annoying. So the Naish smart loop takes care of that problem. Eclipse's new bar has resolved that problem, but they don't offer a retro fit kit for older bars. The new bar is $390 and I didn't feel like shelling out that much cash. Just my .02

Some good info here.

One very important thing to look at when mixing bars & kites is the total depower available. If your bar has to little depower available, you won't have all the depower the kite is capable of. If your bar has too much depower you risk an inversion.

Measuring depower is simple on a bar with below the bar sheeting. It's the distance the bar can travel when the depower rope is at full power. Some bars of this type use a fixed stopper ball to limit travel. However, these stoppers generally don't limit depower throw completely. If by pulling on the depower rope you can move the fixed stopper ball up to the pulley, full depower available is still the distance from the chickenloop to the pulley.

With above the bar sheeting, total depower is available bar travel plus the amount the front lines can be shortened using the depower strap.

One nice thing about below the bar sheeting systems is that it's pretty easy to modify the total depower available. Simply lengthen or shorten the chickenloop rope to achieve the desired depower. Then add extensions to the lines as necessary to bring the bar back in tune.

I went ahead and ordered the LF 08 bar today.

Thanks every one for the information and all your suggestions. It was very helpful! OK, now I know that I have to measure the lines and do some “tuning” to make sure that the depower is right on that bar (don’t want my kite to convert on me or have less depower then my Best bar had). Talking about a really horrible bar – I don’t know if there is anything Worse out there then the “Best” bar. I am sure any bar would be an upgrade.

If you had your Best bar tuned properly you'd realize that it works fine.

ESP Control Bar System, comes with 24 meter lines. You can use the same bar in all your kites, it is even compatible with most other kites on the market. The length of the bar is adjustable (45cm/57cm).The ESP: Revolutionary Ejector Safety Performance is a system that lets a rider fully control the bar. It gives a direct feeling of the kite and makes the kite react more precisely (front flying lines are directly attached to adjuster). There is a short-5th-safety line that can be optionally changed for a long 5th line, the system that makes the relaunch much safer. The specially designed system also keeps all the lines of the bar separate in case of a crashed sequence of kite loops, even after 100 rotations in the same direction; it’s easy to place the lines on the right position. Simply pull the bar briefly towards you and all twists come out. So far this feature is totally unique, developed and patented by Core Kiteboarding. The feedback on the ESP Bar is immediate; this means that you have a better feel of the Kites position at all times. The quick release on the bar is simple, safe and easy, even under high loads. The bar has relatively short depower travel thanks to specially designed bridle-system and has a smooth and consistent range of power, if you are in the situation where you need to depower the kite completely you can also do it effectively with almost no effort.
The depower strap is located just above the control bar and it never seemed to be out of reach due to the shorter throw on depower. The safety system is easy to use and almost instinctive. The leash is connected below the bar so in case of the emergency you have everything at reach. Great quality in all the details; you even have a separate bag for the bar. I dare to say it is one of the best bars on the market.

Just as an FYI kitesurferro all a bar does is tell the kite when to turn, the kite bridel and line position on the kite is where you get all the "feedback" through the bar. Just another exampel of BS kite marketing. Sorry to shit all over your pimp though... Rolling Eyes
