Wanting to get back into the sport.
Learned in 2001,with a Slingshot that could be used with 2 or 4 lines. You rolled up and velcro'd the corners to use as a 4 line.
I used this for three seasons and then lost it and never replaced it.
Gusts were sketchy, re-launching was a challenge, but I had fun and loved the sport.
Gear has changed so much since then. I am lost with all the different options and kite and board styles. I liked the C kite, but have never used anything else.
I plan to go the the Gorge, Sauvie mostly, but I would like to try the coast.
Can anyone help me sort through all the brands/styles, etc. so I can buy something, (I am looking for something used) and get on the water!!!!
Thanks for any help,
Matt

We don't do brand vs brand here... That said, there's a lot of great kites out there. WAY WAY better than that old convertible! Very Happy There's a swap meet in Hood River Sunday, and there's lots of great kites in the classifieds here. Stick with 2007 or newer...

Thanks for the info.
I'm sure all the manufacturers have good kites out there. What I need to figure out is what type of kite
Can you tell me anything about the C kites vs. the bow kites or hybrids or whatever else is out there?

It's all still pretty much academic to me at this point, but I'd be interested in hearing some thoughts on this as well...

Forget about all the Cs. Just go with a GOOD quality bow/SLE or hybrid. Once you fly one you'll be enlightened. YOU WILL SEE THE LIGHT AND RIDE THE WIND LIKE NEVER BEFOR!!!

Any good SLE/hybrid kite will do. I would avoid bars with pulleys on them (bow kites like Turbo Diesel or Crossbow) if you're used to the direct steering feel of your C kite, but otherwise there's tons of options.
