Kiteboard vs Wakeboard?

So... There's a Liquid Force Substance Wakeboard for $133 on Whiskey Militia. I almost bought it, but somewhere in the back of my head, I remember someone saying that wakeboards don't make good kiteboards. Is there truth to that?

Seems like for 3-600 less than most kiteboards retail, I could make up the difference... What's the deal? Can you use a wakeboard for kiting, and why wouldn't you want to?

You can use a wakeboard behind a kite.....they just wont work that well. The type of rocker a wakeboard has makes it really inefficient behind a kite. This means you will need to be quite powered before the wakeboard will begin to plane.

It's not impossible, just riding upwind can be challenging. Wakeboards don't carry speed like a kiteboard will.

yep, i initially used a wakeboard to kite but then bought a kiteboard, trust me it's much more worth your money to just buy a kiteboard.

You can ride wakeboards behind the kite and they are sick!!! You just cant be a pansy.
Some wakeboards will work better than others though behind the kite.
