Mon May 04, 09 9:44 am Dangler/Lawn mower needs help... |
|
|
Hey everyone...
I am looking to take a few lessons to increase my kiteboarding skills. I am an expert lawn mower and small jump specialist (3 feet or less). I have been kiting for a few years and up to now I havn't been pushing myself to improve on my skill set. If anyone can recommend a skilled instructor to assist me with dialing in an efficient POP, a nice jump complete with placing the kite in a position that I ride away from the landing area and of course the basics to an air transition.
I know these goals are very basic when compared to the moves that are being showcased daily on this site, it's just time for me to bring it up a notch. I will be in the Hood River/PDX area the last week of May and the first week of June 100% ready to get worked.....
Thank you very much

yeah, get the progression videos. They are great but agonizingly boring.
Boowowow, bowowowo, bowowowo, bowwowowo, neeeeeeeeeeee
"ok, now will look at the first progression for the backroll" zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
oh yeah, get a nice comfy impact vest. It will help allot if your truly ready to push yourself. |

Cat,
You've taken the second most important step, which is to actually HAVE goals for your kiting.
The internet has a wealth of information as far as the how-to.
Now the most important step...on your next session just nut up and go for it!!
I will NEVER forget the first time I went for a back roll...came right around and stuck the landing. Best day of my life! |

| You are ready for the backroll. put your kite high but not streight over head when you are not over powered spot a small swell (1ft) slightly up wind of you move your hands to the center of the bar(the first time) turn hard upwind into the swell and spot your landing over your front shoulder. you will be amazed how easy it is you will probablly stick your first one. |

Thanks for the suggestions I have oredered the video, will set up a 2.5 hour lesson and promise to throw caution into the wind. A backward roll would be a fun goal to work on after I consistantly land a few jumps.
Thanks again. _________________ It's all good |

Cat-
I don't know much about Tonia at Cascade, but I have heard good things about Kite the Gorge. As somebody who's still working out the basics of kite flying, much of what you address in your question is academic to me, but I do appreciate the fact that even as a reasonably seasoned kiter, you maintain an open and inquisitive approach to improving your skills. Good luck, man, and have fun during your stay in OR! _________________ "Resist much, obey little."
