Not sure if anyone is doing this or if it has been discussed on the forum before, but: I have use for kite fabric: Old kites, ripped kites beyond repair, kite fabric scraps/leftovers etc. I have an idea to re-use the fabric for another purpose with a portion of proceeds going to a local charity.
Wondering how to go about leaving a receptacle at the sandbar.
Port Authority?
CGKA blessing?
Would it be used?
Looking forward to hearing some feedback..

I was just in La Ventana & did see the barrels for old kites etc. They make bags. I purchased one. Pretty cool. That's not what I am making. I was told that the charity for kitecycle was for the local school in La Ventana. A noble cause.
For the product I am thinking about - the charity funds would be for KB4C.
Do you think having a "donation credit" really makes a difference? I can see it for a big local company donating bolts of fabric - but a ripped up old kite? I want to keep it simple. But if a receipt will make that much of a difference, I can provide that.
Thanks for the information... _________________ Be kind to Kooks |

If you have non-profit status then we can write off the donation on our taxes. For those that don't itemize deductions it wouldn't matter but for those that do..that stuff adds up quick.
Donating a kite worth $200 essentially means $60 in my pocket. |

$60 bucks is $60 bucks. 6 dinners at Lampoi's, 3 parking tickets on Oak Street or a bottle of Patron. I see your point.
I could provide a slip to be filled out with each donation - put it in the box, then I could mail the receipt back to the person who donates. ???

| I'm sure you could work out the receipt thing. The honor system could probably work. Is the CGKA a non-profit? If the money was just going to go to the KB4C I'm sure you could route it through either of them. |

Good idea. I'll talk to Tonia about it.
