Nice. Does having that board crosswise like a wing on the back like that affect your handling at speed?

Very cool. Is that a stock Thule mount, or did you fabricate it yourself?

Nice!

P.S. - What lens(es) do you have on your 5D now?

Probably at some point. I did this so I could use it up here in Seattle. Our most popular beach is 30 minutes north of my place.
If I leave late, I get stuck in rush hour traffic. with the bike, I can shoot up the HOV lane. It will be pretty good to get around the in city beaches most of all.
as for it's handling in windy conditions, you can look at the wheels and see this bike was not really intended to handle side winds very well.
Let's just say you'll probably never see this bike and board combo on 84.
If it's really windy, I may tend to keep driving the van. This is really for summer use up here when you know it will be a one kite quiver (biggest kite).
I did get it up to 70 mph on the road and it seemed to handle it okay. probably wouldn't want to exceed that speed with this setup, feel safer at 60.
it's just hard to drive this bike that slow sometimes.

i got some stock thule racks off craigslist and then built the mounts in my shop. the aluminum plates are attached to the saddle bag mounts, so it's pretty rigid.

well I upgraded all my lenses to L series. 16-35mm, 24-105mm, and my fave 100-400mm. the 5D is amazing.
I also picked up the same cam as nate's HD, but really haven't used it yet. gonna make some water housings soon.

You're bike is way too clean - you need to take it to a windy beach! Wink

And they say Americans have lost their innovation. Nice setup!
