Talk to me about Brazil...

So I may be taking a trip to Brazil sometime this fall, most likely to Rio. Anyone done a kite trip + vacation down that way and wanna kick me some intel or point me to some good sites?

Brazil is great in the fall. While Cumbuco will be firing off then, I would recommend checking out the south. The Florianopolis scene is fantastic. If you haven't heard of it, it's an island off the south coast with world class surf, beautiful women, and lots of wind. It's about a 12 hour bus ride south from Rio, or an hour flight. From there you can rent a rig and kite at one of the many amazing beaches there. But I would recommend doing is driving south from Floripa about 1.5 hours to a town called Ibiraquera. I used to live there... It's a killer spot, fantastic waves on one side and a flat lagoon on one side. When I say fantastic waves...i mean that in the way that they occasionally tow-in surf! On the downside the wind is not as consistent or steady as Cumbuco. It gets very gusty there. The locals all ride bows for depower, meanwhile I was on mean Fuels lit out of my mind. And the water is a bit chillier than in the North. But being from the Oregon coast I rocked boardshorts and a rashguard, while the locals were wearing wet suits. If you need anymore info let me know, I have lots of friends down there. I have spent lots of time in Brazil (north and south)

My wife and I spent 3 weeks down in Brazil last fall. Just search for that thread, you will find lots of info.
