Dakine Pyro 09 very very nice!!
Have a 08 and it was great, also have a 08 Mystic Warrior, good but I like the Pyro way better. Also have the 09 Renegade very comfortable, not as stiff.

Any one of these work really sweet. The thing I like about my 08 Red Pyro is that the spreader bar slides to each side with you as you go from heel to toe side rides. In the waves they rock! Here is a shot of the two new 09s as well Very Happy Pyro and Renegade.

Bill Morrissey at Dakine is my hero! Thanks Bill!

I really like my Pyro, it's an 07 and I've heard the 08's were even better. I'm a huge fan of Dakine in general because of their warranty, one of the best out there for sure

I'm in the market for a waist harness myself and just checked out a few at Big Winds and 2nd Wind (Hood River). I looked at DaKine, ProLimit and North. The North includes the bar and pad but I found it somewhat cumbersome, maybe just aesthetically. The ProLimit I didn't like at all (though I have friends who love them), and the 2009 DaKine Pyro was probably the best built. I liked the Renegade a little better, mostly because of the curve to it and less stiff than the Pyro, but of course the dragon is pretty cool! The Taboul is on sale because they're doing away with that line; I liked it but it wasn't as comfy or well made as the Renegade or Pyro, and it seemed short for my back (I'm 6'4"). DaKine doesn't include the bar or pad, but I like the mix and match option as I want to try a few different bars. I'd also like to windsurf with it by swapping bars.

I noticed the older Pyro has a different bar system than the newer one. Pepi has two of the older Pyro (L and XL) and an assortment of smaller waist harnesses at 2nd Wind. I forget the price but Big Winds says $97 for the '08 Pyro on their web site. They have new Liquid Force waist harnesses there too so give them a shot (I didn't have time to try them on).

My friends are advanced kiters and rave about the Mystic but I don't know who carries them here in Hood River and I hear they're expensive.

You'll have to try several on, but even hanging off a bar probably won't simulate how they'll feel after a few sessions. I fit anywhere from M to XL depending on the maker and model, though with DaKine I was consistently L. I've windsurfed with waist harnesses for over a decade and switched into kiting with a seat harness last year and am at the point where I want a waist harness (to pivot the kite for toeside and to get rid of the damned wedgie).

Good luck!
