I'm sure this is old news, but this Tuesday, officially the CGKA has gotten the approval for the eastern end of the Eventsite for the pumping and drying of kites during full season (May 1st - Sept 30th). No lines, launching or landing after May 1st please! CGKA plans to have a BBQ soon to celebrate this new initiative and start things off on the right foot. Most likely to be May 2nd but details to come. We look toward the kiteboarding community to self-police the area to make sure people follow the guidelines. A few bad actors and we all will loose this small milestone in the progression - when the Port of HR reviews it mid to end of the summer. We have a great season planned, please join the CGKA today to help protect YOUR access to kiteboarding!

We look forward to seeing you this season - Jim

Jim spent weeks of his own free time making this happen. Big thanks goes to Jim because without him on the Job, this wouldn't have ever happened.

This is a big deal even though it doesn't seem like it.

I have one more thing to say: All your base are belong to us! hAHuyauaua!

WooHoo!

Since there will be a lot of us using the limited grass area to pump up our kites, I would like to suggest the following.

Many kite sites around the world that have a similar situation, ie, lots of kites and a small area to pump up; have installed an air compressor to pump up kites.

Can the CGKA raise some money to acquire and install a compressor? We can work with the port on location, permanance, and power source.

I don't mind the excercise from pumping. I am just thinking of how much space we all take up on the sandbar pumping up our kites and a compressor would help the congestion of too many kites spread out. Too many kites spread out could then jeopardize having any space on the Event Site grass.

Several people have suggested this now, and it's a fantastic idea.

Right now the CGKA is at capacity for working on various projects. The compressor would most likely be part of a longer term plan for making the Event Site more kite friendly.

Here is what can be done now. There are several power outlets near the new pump and dry location. Someone should go down and see if they work. If they work, then anyone could bring down their compressor and set it up. Maybe some sort of cart. We'd need to get Port permission to do this, but probably wouldn't be a big deal.

If someone has a compressor they don't mind bringing down daily or just on the weekends, and those power plugs work, I'd be happy to bring up requesting the Port's permission to the CGKA Board.
