Hey, I was looking at the calendar - didn't actually know we had one-- and on the last day to launch from the event site it says that we can pump up and dry kites year around on the grass.

That's pretty sweet and a shout out to all the CGKA people that made that a possibility. When did the port agree to that anyways?

The Events calendar at the top of the page is quite handy. As you can see we have alot planned this year.

As for the launch and pump and dry... We have been able to do that now for the last two years. Yes the CGKA worked hard for that right. As it stands now, We can launch and land till the end of April. Then we will be able to Pump and Dry only during the summer. We will have a space at the far east end. If everyone plays nice we are hoping to get a bigger area by the end of the summer.

Mark

Sweet!! That should take some load off the sand bar especially when the water is high and there is not much room to work with. Thanks CGKA!!!

I self-launched from the grass last weekend. pretty nice not to have to wade through the water and pick up sand.
reminded me of stevenson.
thank you CGKA.

So wait, we've been able to set up kites and lay them out to dry on the event site grass year round for two years? How come I never see anyone taking advantage of this?

No, reset.

October 1st to April 30th we can use the Event Site for kiting. Between May 1st and September 30th there can be nothing involving a kite on the event side, not even drying.

The new rules that the CGKA has been working to get approved and implemented would allow for a place to pump and dry your kite on the event site lawn. Then you have to take your kite over to the Sandbar to rig and launch. It just allows you to leave your dry stuff on the beach and only take what you intend to get wet through the water to the Sandbar.

Nothing is official yet, but the vote is expected to pass when the actual written plan has been completed. The port is actually modifying it's laws which requires a proper process.

Soon that will be a reality, but maybe Mark can update it since I think he has the permissions to do that...

Put the "not official yet" on the calendar.
