Thu Apr 02, 09 8:51 pm Anyone ever made Pho Broth? |
|
|
I'm thinking about taking a stab at making some Pho. Since the Gorge lacks a Vietnamese restaurant, and Pho is my favorite food, and Katie doesn't need to go into Portland for school anymore, and I can't tag along just to eat some Pho, I have to go it alone.
Anyone done this and have any advise?

| Hey man this is Donny Baker. I'ts pronounced "phu". If you get good at it, and decide to start a restaurant in Hood River, I hope you will name it Pho King. I gotta go.

I'll ask my gf, even though I'm pretty sure she doesn't really like any of the quick/homemade powder mixes. Probably have to get it at some weird asian store.

Yea dude, those things suck. I want to make it from scratch but the recipe seems a little daunting. I'm mostly wondering if I should make it with tail or a hip bone of the cow.
Donny, It's actually pronounced "Pha?" No plans to open a restaurant, but I'll share with everyone if I figure it out.

I volunteer to beta test any homebrew pho!
Seriously, if someone started a decent pho joint out here they would have ALL my money.
When you're standing in line for pho it's a pho queue...

A public service message from the streets of Hanoi:
"Benh vien huu ngh"; Sometimes you eat the pho...sometimes the pho eats you.

| Hey Fo, I've made Pho before, it's really easy. PM me if you want the recipe - just don't put the fish sauce in it (if'n you want it to taste like the restaurants here).
