Thinking about heading south for a little Cali kite trip.

Anyone know much about Jalama? Ive heard it can be epic.. Oregon style.

Read a post though saying that any type of north wind is bad. I would think that woud be the call. ????

kited there in 2002.
Wind was a bit north---gusty.
But it's set up to be epic.
The swell was well overhead and I had a hard time----I was just learning.
But it is an amazing place with epic scenery.

You will dig it.

And this time of year is epic for Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Arroyo Laguna and SB which are all within an hour or two of Jalama.
I would recommend pismo beach (Oceano dunes) since you can drive on the beach and camp on the beach.

Jalama is worth the trip - got a fun session in mast high waves a few years back - the wind was a bit chossy on the inside - which can be scary as the beach turns to a rocky cliff band downwind - some consequences. Can be epic

waves pretty much always head high+,when windy
NW is side-on(ideal),can be N(side),or W(on)
can nuke in the spring(5-7m)but unlike the beautiful
oregon coast, for the most part, winds' dead in the summer
please respect the surfers, they'll be out even when nuking
localism exists there,i've already said too much..

knew I was going to be called out on that...

but the only dude out was a polesmurfer and half a dozen local kiters sitting on the beach - waiting for better wind - I had no choice but to step up after driving 3hrs - the waves get nice and glassy when there is no wind

I was checking out Ikitesurf and the wind looks up and down and from several different directions.
Is it worth a 15hr drive for 4 days of ridding?
