Beautiful day, no wind until late afternoon and then not much but even a bad day on the mt. is better than a good day at work.

Super big props to Pat "Splaterwin" Erwin for supplying the snowmobiles and the ride up. Hope the new windshield on the arctic cat doesn't cost too much. If anybody needs a design for a sled that can be towed behind a snowmobile he's your guy.

thanks,

jc

Man, beautiful. Looks like there is some good sled assisted riding/skiiing in there... Though those pinwheels of snow would keep me off those slopes.

It's a sorry Friday the 13th tragedy, at least nobody got hurt. Yes the sled worked well but already thinking of changes.

Pinwheels? Those are snowmobile tracks. It's amazing where you can ride with enough power and balls.

Also need to thank shymac for use of his large Rev demo kites.

Yea there are sled tracks in the snow, but you can see some pin-wheels of snow which is a sign of wet snow instability.

I spoke to a couple of snowmobilers from Battleground while I was taking photos.

jcohenx: Is there much risk of avalanche up there?

snowmobilers: Hell yes!

good idea to carry an avy beacon, shovel and probes

cascades are fairly staightforward - just be super careful when it dumps and blows like last night

Better late then never....

Again thanks Pat and the rest of the crew for making it happen! Thumb's Up

Anyway the wind was good; Right around 15-18 knots and super steady. Power up big kites and wind coming from the NE maybe even some south in it, just because i was able to track up the side of the Mt. very well. Once at the limit of wind shadows from the edge of Helen's ridge line; unhook riding down the hill was sick... Made about 5 trips up. More of a freeride day but the potential for killer glidin and freestyle is there for sure. Basically a mecca for anyone that rides a sled. Can't wait to get my hands on one...!

Plains of Abraham had a sweet view point with all 4 mountains in view from 1 spot. Pretty sweet looking for sure...

Thanks bro. I'm planning on getting a sled next season so hopefully I can get more riders out there and get the stoke going. The sledneck crew is pretty down with the kites because I had about 5 chasing me down to see what the hell I was doing....

Even if there was no wind it would be more fun then a epic day at Meadows on a weekend! HA!

Yea dude, I've looked into the Sled thing quite a bit. Now is the time to buy for next season... Right now my current grand idea is to get a 14 foot zodiac... I'm always off on some scheme to spend a bunch of money I don't have.

Yes, that was by sled. The shot with all the Mountains was in one spot and I could see all 4 mountains at the same time. If it were clearer and my vision better, I could possible see the Sisters and Mt. Bachelor.

Glad everyone else got wind, too!

My brother and I got hooked up on Sunday at Mt Haggin. Huge area with natural half pipes and cornices.
There's a prominent cornice that you can shred down that's 40+ ft high!
I was going laps on that for hours, figuring out how to fly the kite on such steep terrain.
sadly, we forgot our camera Sad
