anyone want to go? I think I'm going to try it.
sounds like people have kited the palmer and zigzag glaciers, out of bounds of timberline.
forecast looks nice:
"Increasing clouds, with a high near 37. East southeast wind between 14 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. "
though i don't know what direction would be best.

I was up at Timberline last Saturday and found the wind to be a bit shifty and blowing downhill. It was difficult to gain ground. The winds were easterly when I tried. I think you have to get fairly high on the mountain, i would guess maybe the palmer lift area would be better.
Timberline sells a one ride chairlift ticket on the Magic Mile for 15 bucks. Seems like the way to go if you want to get up the mountain to where it's more open and away from all the people.
Let me know what you find out today.
I noticed a huge open field just below the Hood River Meadows chair that had plenty of snow. That place would be great if we could only get the wind to fill in.

I have just started snowkiting and it's been long overdue. been fortunate enough to snowkite three states in the last month and I'm having a blast with it.
Last friday was my best session yet and it was a blue bird day with good powder... On Mt Hood! It surprises me that I don't see others out there. I know this mountain well and have seen many solid wind day's. I've got a nice spot dialed in near little zig zag canyon on the south side. The two times I've been the wind sensors were reading SSE to S which oddly made it blow side downhill here. still no problem though. On friday I was being pulled straight uphill!
Here's a few shot's of the goods

| That's the good thing about HRM... it's pretty shaded from the wind!

I am flying into portland from maui to get some snowboarding in and was hoping to get a chance to try snowkiting. I know that people are kiting at mt hood but im wondering what size kites to bring and where do i go?
would be stoked to ride with some locals that know how to score a good session.
