strongest rappell knot for climbing is an over hand knot.
hold the two 'tails' so they are pointing the same way. make a loop, insert the tails. tighten...
i'm not sure if that would work for kiting. actually when you rappell the lines are both pulling on the knot from the same direction. so maybe a fisherman's knot would be better....
good luck.
btw i know nothing about this...

An overhand knot won't hold in spectra line. There's only one knot that will, but it'll take too much in line length (about 8-12"), so your other lines would have to be shortened.

I'd talk to Brian and Heather at windzup to get another line.

OK, and because someone's likely to ask, the only reliable knot to connect two spectra lines together is a double fisherman's. That's what we use when climbing where our life depends on it.

Actually there is a way to repair most spectra line with a handy little tool that most people don't know about.

The method is featured in "Workbench" in the upcoming issue of The Kiteboarder", coming out the first week of March.

I've used the Dbl fisherman's and it worked really good! Luckily I was not to far from the road and could walk out if i had to. But it's a good idea to have knowledge about what to do just in case you get stranded out in the backcountry.

where's the break in your line? if it's near an end just cut the other lines shorter and re-tie the lark's head knot on the ends.

funny I always tied a double fisherman knot:

with on or two more arounds

until I met mr rockstar climbing bro - who uses an overhand knot - lays flatter on rappels

totally true

difference is a rappel is on a rope of kernmantle construction = overhand will hold

kite line = spectra with no sheath = overhand knot slippage = dangerous

Haha! I have put a Reef/Square knot in my bridle line. But I like the double or even triple fisherman's knot.
I also like the larks head with stopper knots. Although you could shorten that down to one lark and stopper.

Btw haven't tested with square knot yet but will change to fisherman's.

I'd use some variation of the "finger-cuff" type splice like with any other hollow spectra.
I have a small tool , maybe a "nano-tool" (??)
made from a single yarn of fiberglass I pulled off the edge of a big laminate.
A drop of superglue holds the line to the end, then you can feed it through the other braid easily.
after burying the line, just snip off the last few mm of the fid/line/glue.
The only trick is, let the glue dry before you start splicing
Wink
The mag article will probably have some tricks I haven't thought of,
in a pinch you can go to the source for splicing info:
http://www.samsonrope.com/index.cfm?page=28

tool post use -with line tail still glued on, can just snip it off to reuse....
