My man Sid comes all the way from Central Oregon to kite with me, and there are times when the wind and the surf just aren't cooperating. We are way too cheap to buy a jet ski to do the real tow surfing thing, after all we only want to do this when there is no wind, or we can't paddle out. So, we decided to use the equipment we had - my truck and some empty beach. Sid built a tow bar that would go on a hitch, we grabbed some rope we had sitting around, loaded our kiteboards and hit the beach.

Pretty fun...but, I would give it up for even a bit of wind. However, it was nice to get wet - in the ocean. We needed a longer rope to actually get us into the surf- next time. It got pretty shallow at times.

Hey Tim, we will be sure to call you next time we go, even though you are not one of the ones that are "too cheap to buy a jetski"... note: you will need elbow and tailbone pads as well. haha.

I claim no involvement with that video or the damage to your truck.

Cool video. Where are you coming from Sid? A bunch of us in Bend always try to carpool to the coast so if you want to hook up some time and ride, give me a call. Might try a Floras Lake trip in March

You guys rock! That is a great example of making the most out of a day. Lonnie, I will never feel bad about getting into your truck in my wetsuit after watching this!

@ MW - I'm in the glamorous town of Madras. I head over to The LC at least 3 times a month. I landboard at the Redmond fairgrounds quite reg when the wind cooperates. I used to skite there but they chipped sealed the lot last season and now it's like 5 grit sandpaper. Pretty nasty. Looking for a new spot if you know of any. Look me up next time you roll out.
