Tue Jan 06, 09 6:12 pm scored our first Hood River water session '09 |
|
|
My Bro and I just finished an hour+ session from 4-5:30 at the event site. Knarly winds. 7m & 9.5(forgot the other 7) When we finished, I Earned some scratch and a new boeing jacket. Yeah! One of there "ra-domes" blew into the water. climb in, hook on strap, pull like hell. about 6 of us. they were more than happy to stay dry.
Gotta love these kinda days. cold water, warm air, 8mm total rubber. It was like kiting in a hot tub.(feet are friggn cold, need thicker booties)
Any one else score a sess?

Blowhard-
What kind are those gloves? You got'em from Josh (Cleanline) right? I've hated all the gloves/ mitts I've ever had. currently have the '07 dakine mitts. didn't wear them yesterday. won't wear them unless bellow 32. Everything seems to wreck my hands faster than without.

I really like my oneal 5mm gloves. They are super warm, but you do tend to fatigue a bit fast since they are thick.
I wish I could wear mittens, but I would hate to have to self rescure in mittens, and that is when you would really need your hand protection if something goes wrong.

I ride the sle on a pretty short trim loop
so it's halfway powered up all the time
I don't need to hang on very tight
but thinner is best to avoid fatigue
air was low 50's and water about the same
which is in my lowest limits
but the wind was blowing 30 at times
