| Gear and outdoor knowledge aside what are the differences going from water to snow? Smooth or steep learning curve? Been thinking lately of trying the snowkiting. |

| the snowkiting is not that bad as long as the conditions are right. Avoid the really gusty days and avoid places that are icey. Wear a helmet!!! You should be able to self land and launch proficiently or have someone on hand to help you. |

helmet is right.
also, if you can ski, consider skis in light wind. it can help to be able to skate a stride or two to keep the kite in the air. i found a board harder in that respect--but really fun, too.
i thought it was really easy to transition, and a couple friends who are newbies found it easy to transition, too.
you can rig a bit smaller, since there's less drag on snow, typically.
