I hit this place on a 30 hour layover. First thing I gotta say is that I have a whole new apreciation for all you guys throwing down uhhooked moves. I'm like, Gee, one hour isn't very much, I better buy a 2 hour pass. Hah! After 20 minutes, I realized I wasn't even going to make it an hour if I didn't start taking some breaks. The breaks got longer after each run... My hands finally completely gave out at 15 minutes shy of 2 hours. (LOTS of breaks thrown in there! )
What a kick in the ass! I really enjoyed it, and got a lot better riding toeside. I didn't hit any of the sliders, maybe after a couple of more sessions. I really have to lose more weight and hit the Gym this Winter!
The locals were really throwing down. These guys rode away from each shot I've posted here.
The Pic with all of the ships is the East coast of Singapore. There's literally hundreds of ships anchored not far off shore. You can't tell from the pic, but they're closer than Oregon is to the Stevenson launch by quite a bit. Kiteboarding is banned, but I was told they really don't enforce the rule. I'm not sure it would be worth dragging gear there anyway...

Cable riding is the shit. It's not fair to compare the two in term of endurance. I never really ride unhooked unless I'm coming back from the White Salmon bridge and I'm just goofing around. Usually, I just unhook, pop, and then hook back in.
It'll take you a lot longer to learn a raley at the cable though, cause its' way more punishing at first. Learn it first on the kite, then take it to the cable! It's the most fun thing ever!

I get that, but it was a real eye opener for me just how much harder it was to do anything. At this point, I don't think I could just unhook & pop! Maybe next Summer...

$24 US for an hour, $32 for two hours...

I got lucky getting that. He was spinning right from launch, and the spin carried through to the landing. (The cell phone camera I use has a second or two delay after pushing the shutter button. ) The shutter snapped right in the middle of the spin.
We really need a cable park! Although, I'll take the Gorge & the coast over a cable park any day. We're damn lucky to have what we do!

Does any body know how the rope carrier slows then reverses direction? Must be some sort of system that reverses the motor at a pre determined point. Two towers, some cable and an electric motor. It does not seem like a lot of stuff for 30 grand.

¡They ban kiting and convert the city pond to a cable park?

I saw the one they used for wakelab at surf expo. Cable is a loop and doesn't reverse directions, it just goes around a pully.

| The fairgrounds park/pond in Stevenson would make an excellent spot except it wouldn't get enough traffic to pay off. It has to be in Portland to get enough biz. It also needs lots of sunny days and I don't think P-town has enough.
