I am wondering if anyone may have been to LV between around January 15th to January 31st?? Is the wind and water good this time of year? Any suggestions on good times to visit would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Been there before in January and it's good. That is also when the LV Classic is scheduled for so they're planning on wind. See you there.

i was there from december 27th - jan 13th last year, and basically january is awesome. if el norte's blow, you have good 7m -9m C kite wind, and if el norte is shut off, we got thermal winds every day we didn't have el norte winds. the thermals were solid 11m C kite wind.

we had wind of one time or the other every single day we were there last year. on cold el nortes it helps to have a 3/2 full suit or shorty (depending on how much a puss ya are with the cold) because el norte is freakign cold. wish i was going again this year...

Sounds perfect. Do you fly into La Paz or Cabo? I've noticed that La Paz has some pretty significant travel times..

we flew into la paz. you can get a taxi for about 80 dollars from la paz airport to La ventana. your best bet is try and co-ordinate with other people so you can split the cost, if you're flying into la paz.

i know people that have flown into cabo and rented a car. if you're staying in la ventana at baja joes, or palapas ventana (there are a few others) you can definately get away without renting a car; but if you stay out of town (think el sargento) getting around without a vehicle fn'ing sucks.

For the difference in price and travel time, its best to fly into Lapaz. RT is currently $650 without fees.

The fees will probably be another $200 because the pilots sleep in fancy hotels and go to cable parks after they sit in there cozy chairs and read magazines (oooh, I mean fly the plane).

Airfare earlier today when I checked was $428 in full for Jan. 14 returning the 31st. Thru multiple carriers and about 18 hours travel time 1 way. I used kayak and I think it was orbitz with the best deal. I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible travelling solo. Any suggestions on where to stay at a reasonable rate? Thanks for all the info..

Dude, 18 hours travel time each way? Alaska airlines, one stop in LA. I think the total time is 6.5 hours. i guess its hard to have allot of time and money but 12 hours of my time (24 rt) is well worth $200.

If you book thursday the 15th Am flight from PDX you can share our rental car and save yourself $80 in shuttle fees.

LMFAO Very Happy Somebody has to keep the cable parks in business...

La Paz is definitely the way to go. You can fly non stop PDX to Cabo, But you get in too late to drive to Ventana. If you can afford it, it's nice to have a rental car with you in Ventana. Also, pick up whatever groceries you're going to want in La Paz. (Los Barriles if you go through Cabo.)
