Now you're just being unfair to the rest of us! C'mon Joshie, what did you say?
Also, that line tangling was pretty hilarious, but I need to get back out there for a better sk8 kiting experience... |

Subject: Porn + the usual
Hey Man,
I have this old hard drive that crashed. Naturally there is some porn on it. I don't really care about taking it to a place if they judge me but wondering if you know of anyone who would be able to get this data off for me. I've got an external HD that would hold all of the data if someone could get to it.
The harddrive makes a clicking sound when you turn on the computer... I've been told that it is the, "click of death." Any chance that you know someone who could help? I'm happy to pay them for their time.
Thanks man!

are you just looking to get the porn off?
Now THAT is hard core!! Anywho, if it still works then just dump everything on it to your external hard drive. If it doesn't work, the cost of data recovery from a broken HD is REALLY expensive and it won't be worth it.
If your worried about the content, then find something with a strong magnet on it and rub it all over the hard drive. the magnet should erase whatever is on there.
ok? |

that hard-drive is CRASHED. If anyone knows how to bring back the dead you would be my hero.. and have some extra $$.
I know I can send away but they are saying 200-500. You gotta be kidding me. That the same as buying a used kite during winter season...
I have a bunch of fotos from an old study abroad trip on there that I'd like to get off. That's the reason.
Thanks! |

I think what you meant to say was...
"I'd like to get off with a bunch of photos I took of an old-broad that I went to school with.." |

I think "video" is more likely. |

So I can't sit here and bust balls because I don't know you.... but this is an awesome thread!
Also I've been told that putting crashed drives in the freezer for a while can sometimes bring them back to life for just long enough to get some data off (Never tried it and have no idea why this would work...).
What the HDD recovery guys will do is probably a platter swap. They actually open your drive, remove the platters and put them into another drive that works. There is a wikihow article on how to do this but be warned that it has a really good chance of not working.

Hopefully you can get those back, I did a year abroad too and would really be hurt if I lost the *special* pictures.
Cheers! |
