Anyone have the 411 on the Cancun kiting scene? Sensors, spots to hit around there. . . I don't think it is too windy this time of year so I have been informed (PKH), but I want to get a different answer/perspective.

Here's a thread from our vacation there last year:

I just checked windfinder and windguru, not looking so good right now. I'm not really sure when the season starts up there?

Hacienda Punta Sam was a great place to stay. 15 minutes from town and 15 minutes from Isla Blanca. $50 a night. Bar on the premises. Very Happy

total crapshoot this time of year and maybe anytime of the year...

good maps and info of the most popular spots on above site. tulum is as beautiful a spot to kite as you will find if it is windy.

ferry over to cozumel and rent a car if it is borderline on the mainland. usually the other side of cozumel is a bit windier.

sasqa
the above is true,
we were there for a month this time of year only had a few down days south of Playa del Carmen 10 miles
but if needing it bad the town of Progreso on the gulf side is very windy all the time I think

the pay road is fairly cheap and about 70 miles
and free road is pretty good also
have fun
really hot and humid
