Now that you mention it.......NW is one of the few airlines that I've flown where I've observed pilots doing actual exterior pre-flight inspections of aircraft. Once in Minneapolis I saw a pilot call a ground crew member over to look at a tire.....next thing we were being delayed as that tire was changed.
