Hey guys, I was thinking of heading to cannon beach this weekend, Sat and Sun, from what I can tell forcast calls for 11Mph South wind.

I am about a 5 out of 10 ridder. Can tack up wind with non gusty conditions.

Can the locals give me some heads up about the area. Rocks, debry, people. Is the forecast I read correct? Is that a good beach or should I go to another one?

If anybody would like a ride I got room for 2.

All advice is welcome.

I am looking for a nice leasurely ride, havent ridden in a while, and my last trip to the gorge was not pleasent, 20-27 MPH gusts.

it's still a little early for the coast forecast, try again tomorrow.... but 11mph isn't much on a south wind... (I think it will be a little more than that, but who knows)

I'm showing gigantic swells on Saturday (15 ft at 16 seconds Shocked )... mix that with light wind, and you've got yourself a recipe for disaster. My advice, is don't go out underpowered.

cannon doesn't seem that popular with kiters. maybe try manzanita?
i've done cannon on a south, its ridable; good even, but you would be pushed to rocks if you headed downwind (http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-9276.html).
honestly, if the swells big, be really careful. its nothing compared to 20-27 winds, which, actually sounds pleasant. I'd stay inside for sure.

Something about 11 mph winds and 15 foot swell don't seem to add up to a leisurely ride. Rolling Eyes

I have yet to try cannon beach, but the south end looks good. The mountains are close to the surf so I think that would cause so funky shhit. l usually do not go into the surf unless I am seeing 15 mph steady. I stay in the reform unless I see 20 mph plus. I do not know if that helps, good luck

Here are 2 good links for Cannon Beach and Seaside reports and current conditions. Bookmark them, I use them for when I ride the coast.

Hey guys thanks for the heads up. I wasn't sure if those 15Ft seas meant all the way to shore or just offshore.

I will check out those local reports from cannon beach.

I've been itching to get out to the coast, guess to premature.

Thanks again for all the info. I will stay on the beach then Smile
