I'm not a fan of the end opening trigger snap. I've done a LOT of testing where the kite is released to the safety line. The end opening trigger snap opens by itself too often to be considered reliable. What happens is that the snap ends bend ever so slightly under the sudden load of the safety line going tight. Pretty soon the snap will open with a good tug on the safety line.

Not trying to be a lame ass, I know how loyal most of you are toward SS. I'm just saying there could be a better solution. I'm glad this is being brought up. (not to take away from tuckers sympathy post Wink )

The opening trigger Snap will break in cold weather, For snowkiting its not safe. I know from experience, Lucky for me I was not air-borne when it happened.

Whats wrong with the good ol' fashioned caribeaner they use for rockclimbing? I dont see a reason for some ultra safe snap shackle. The leash should have a release next to the harness and easily within arms reach.

Sorry for ranting, I need to ride.

It was me that put up the idea for a triggersnap modification on the other forum.

But I have a better idea, just use the carabiner so it's not pointed the wrong way!!!

See the picture.
Could have a locking carabiner, could have a different attachment to the harness, etc., but the main point is shown.
BTW, make it a forged SS biner not one of those cast POS's!

This idea is hardly even an idea, it's just using equipment correctly.
So why did it take until now for me to think of it? Question

Maybe someone will implement it.
