| Nice job man! What is the Mako class? is that like a non-race board class or something?

Them boys were fast! I was working hard, holding down 2nd place and trying to gain on the leader just before the turn at the last bouy when I face planted HARD and two guys go flying by me as I spun on my belly! Got up pretty quick but couldn't catch them as they were really moving. I think I might have been able to hold on to 2nd in the downwind leg if I hadn't screwed up. But that's what racing is all about - if you ain't first - you're last! (or 4th in my case!)
There wasn't a seperate class for different board styles, I think they were just pointing out that a non race specific board still did pretty well.
Now, if we just had to do a few more laps I might have shown them a thing or two .

Well with a race in Ocean Rodeo's back yard lots of Mako riders where in the race. So just for fun they put up a prize for first in the Mako class. Still looking for my prize. I think the prize was all the good food and drink at the Ocean Rodeo camp site NICE! The new 09 Mako 140 x 40 works well as a race board. It’s a good all-around board. I used it all week. If you get a chance you should try it.
This trip was the best. Thanks Ocean Rodeo

Nice work Carl!
Sweet hoodie too!
I am really looking forward to riding one of those 140's when they come in next month.
All the samples are gone!
What did you think of the 09' Rise?
I think the graphics are refreshingly NW, but how does it fly?
I'm still blown away by how the 08's pull, how can it get any better?

I would say that the 09 Rise is a sleeker slimed down version of the 08 Rise. The kites turn faster and because its lighter it has more grunt in lighter winds. Yes the new graphics look cool but the best part is each size has been reshaped for top performance. The end result is the 09 Rise is a step up from the already fantastic 08's
