How do yo trim the T3? I have 14m T3, and I would like get the SS crowd input on how to rig the lines? I tried second knot on the back lines and first on front, and in the guesstimated 8 to 10 knots wind yesterday I couldn't get up on the board.

Today after an advice from the very helpful dude on the beach I rigged the lines on the second knots for both front and back. I was overpowered in the gusts in guesstimated 10 to 12 knots.

How do you set your lines on this kite?

Knot selection on any of the SS kites is more of a fine tune thing. There's only about an inch or so adjustment there. look at how much trim is available, a LOT more than the small amount of adjustment via knot selection.

The T2/3s have a lot of range... a few knots is not going to push you from one extreme to another. I can ride my T2 14m from about 10 - 11 knots up to riding 22 knots comfortably, and a lot more than that uncomfortably! Very Happy

What's your weight and board selection? That info will help a lot.

like NAk said, knots don't make that much of a diff on the SS kites. I always rig my revs the same, always.

I will say that on the same sized T2, you have to finess it in light winds. The 14m has allot of power but you can really choke the shit out of the power without the kite visible backstalling. If your trying to get going in light wind, try sheeting out a bunch and get the kite moving, then like in the middle of the sine, give it a little sheet in. nice slow turns, and only sheet in when you have a gust of wind to "harvest". Otherwise nice and EASY.

the under powered at 6 knots and overpowered at 12 knots thing...well, welcome to the world of the 14m turbos... that thing is a gorilla in heavier winds, man i wish that kite was just a little more slippery.

Another thing that will help you take advantage of your T3 is the pull in the de-power rope to the point where you can touch the chicken loop with your bar and NOT pinch the kite. That way you don't have to ride with your arms stretched out all the way and still achieve good de-power.
Once you get a feel for the kite and the power, you can slid the active stopper ball down a bit. I like to keep mine set about 1/3 of the way from the top. With that setting I still have enough tension in the back lines to steer the kite when sheeted out all the way to the stopper ball however I can de-power the kite enough to ride waves without the kite pulling me.
Play around with it.......You will find the T3 to be a real versatile kite. Probably the best wave kite for hooked in riding I have used so far.

I fly an 11 meter T3 and I love it. It's a great hooked in kite for jumping and doing a surfboard. Very stable and just hangs in the sky while I try new stuff.

I find that I only use the trim when I'm over powered. I tend to ride powered and not in light conditions with it.

Thanks for all the info. This kite is definitely growing on me. Sometimes I get constipated on the details, so it was important for me to know the trim doesn’t matter. I had quite comfortable session on this kite today.

I am "full size guy." I heard this description of me in one of the Hood River stores, so I know it is highly technical and accurate Laughing (200 lb, and riding 138 custom CB). I guess eventually I will need smaller board.

Thanks, that hint helped me a lot in feeling more in control of the kite today.

Exactly! This kite is less forgiving than another brand I am used to, but definitely is very workable after some period of adjustment.
