Moving from Guam to hermiston--couple of basic questions and apologize in advance as I'm sure this has been covered before
From hermiston is there some place closer than Rufus to kite?
In general can you kite in summer?
what is water temp in summer and outside temp?
I check wind speeds via wind guru and don't seem that strong--but everybody has 7-9 kite- I'm i missing something ?
Port Kelley and Boardman conditions and seasons? thank Jon

The best place to go is Roosevelt, but you can kite 3 mile, and between spots including Boardman.

You will need to be able to self launch and be ready for self rescue with no support at all, except for some windsurfers.

It's about 1 hour from Herm to Roosevelt accessable from the Wa. side. If you want some more details on this just pm me and I will fill you in.

Ron

Dude, I grew up in Irrigon (about 11 miles east of Boardman and 11 miles w/nw of hermiston) for about 18 years...(about 1/2 mile from the river)...There's not many places to hit....I say anywhere from 3mile canyon - eastward - you better be able to go upwind like a motha....And I don't recommend you going out alone...Most of the river in the columbia basin (between Boardman/irrigon/umatilla) is hella...hella wide....So if shit happens, you better know what your doing....My 2 cents, anything east of boardman and west of Mcnary, "SUCKS."
Your better off going to 3-mile or anything further west........But if you feel like charg'n it, than check out the county line between Irrigon and Umatilla....There's a small beach on the refuge...Lots of sandy space for you to luanch....I've kited here before....It works but it tends to be kinda gusty....W/NW winds are probably the best I think....
Just my 2 cents....
