| Booked a flight to Peru this winter, but not going kiteboarding. Too much stuff to haul around, though I would still love to do it there. Anyways, besides the Nazca lines, and Machu Picchu is there anything else I should go visit? I'll be there for 2-3 weeks this December. |

| oops, wrong forum (was it obvious I did this around 1:00 am?) Yeah I'm going with a non-kiting friend, so no kiting for me. Maybe I can "take a lesson" down there and not have to bring anything, even demo some new gear! |

| You def don't want to miss out on some epic kiting. Jose and Katia could get you set up with gear and lessons for your friend. Paracas (means strong wind) is a cool place to check anyway - a desert climate to kite in with sea lions, penguins and whales. Other non-kiting places to check out are Arequipa to the south, Cusco on the way to Machu Picchu, Chan Chan to the north and Lake Titicaca. Not sure what the wind will be like that time of year, but Mancora is the surf spot. It is kinda out of the way from everything else though. I'll be in Paracas from 12/26 - 12/31. Drop me a note if you can swing a mini kite trip. |

theres a place called the South American Explorers Club in Lima. They have travellers info, computers, coffee, tea, and STORAGE LOCKERS... Its like $40 to join. We had alpine climbing AND bike touring gear, so that storage was a big part of our logistics... Anyway, I didnt kite Peru either.
I recommend kicking it in Cuzco. There are incredible day and mulitiday adventures from there. Renting bikes to ride to the salt pools... Sunsets at Sachsaywaman Ruins. The trip to MachuPichu, yeah yeah yeah.., check out Ollantantambo on the way (cool little town with ruins and small hotel)
have fun |

Whoever said titicaca was dead on. I spent a summer teaching english in lima and then went on to do a crazy whirlwind tour over a week and seeing the floating reed islands is a MUST DO. More so than nazca lines. Totally amazing place and great people. Be careful in Lima as it can be super ghetto and dangerous if you are in the wrong place day or night...
For the most part great people but always a few seem to jack stuff up. Have a great time bro! |

i would just go and explore the country. unless you want to wait for great waves at lobitos or something, kiting's a commodity you can easily do locally. better to do real travelling sometimes.
probably not enough time to make it worth it for this trip, but neighboring bolivia is also an awesome place to go. one of my favorite places of all time. |

I spent some time down there guiding and had a great time. Check out the ruins above Cosco and stay near the square downtown, arriquipa is cool and deffinantly raft down the colca or the cotojuasi for excecitment, they are very remote and both are debated to be the deepest canyons in the world. 2.5 times deeper than the Grand Canyon. Stay at the hot spring town at the base of Machu Pichu, a great way to spend a day while waiting for the train back up the valley. Also, if your waisting time for a flight in Lima take a cab to Miraflores and watch the Paragliders sail the coastal cliffs while catching a great meal of ceveche! Yum!!!
Its a cool place. |

Ya, especially if you're a goofy footer and hate long long long clean smooth lefts...
(The lefts of Peru would be a wave-riding dream!! Dying to go!! Why miss it??) _________________ Cascade Kiteboarding
