On Friday at Stevenson, my kite luffed in the wind shadow of 'Wind Killer the Tree' and ended up gashed on the rocks. The 3" tear was next to the seam on one of the ribs and I couldn't simply tape it. Fortunately, I remembered seeing Mark the Dangler and that he is good at these kind of repairs. Sure enough, Mark had the kite back in my hands before I left Stevenson that evening! It's a really nice stitched patch and I am only $25 lighter for it (plus tip ). Thanks again, Mark, for your quick and thorough job. The next day, your stitch job and I survived one of my scarier moments, a triple lofting off of Well's Island. I can only imagine what the remnants of my I kite and I would be like now if I had tried to duct tape it.

BTW, Friday afternoon was not one of my family's stellar moments! Within 15 minutes, I gashed a kite, Denise shattered her kiting sunglasses by stepping on them, and my daughter spilled my 44oz lemonade on a framed photo I was donating to KB4C... We probably should have cut our losses, but the wind was still too good. |
