Did anyone else attempt the KB4C race course??

Last night around 7pm, after the crowds had left the sandbar, I went out and kited the Kite Derby course for KB4C. After running the course, I went back to the computer and revised the course map. Here is an updated course map: http://kb4c.org/images/race-map-lores.jpg.

This course is definitely going to be more challenging than last year! It will take more than just the right board selection to win this race.

Any thoughts on strategy? Will you ride a twin tip the entire race so you can also attempt the long jump?? Or will you have an assistant on land switching boards out for you? I don't think the surfboard is going to be the board of choice for this course... too much jibing.

From the looks of the pic... You may want to consider changing the starting line to be at a 90 degree angle to the wind. (Sailboat race style) that way people can start at either side and go up wind from there. As it looks now, everyone will crowd the upwind bouy making a huge jam point...

Just an idea.

Just a couple of questions from someone who's only in for endurance:

Do you think that like last year we will have those sailboat racers also in our course? This might make the "middle" bouy marker scary if those damn sailboats are in the mix.

Will the bouys be out on Friday 8/8 so us out-of-towners can get in a practice session?

island buoy? or pretty close to the same?

is wind in HR typically more SW than W?

long question short, will this buoy be in
the Well's island wind shadow like
last year?
