Hey Everyone,
The forecast is looking good for the contest this weekend. Here's a little info to keep everyone informed...www.dabridge.us
Friday - Don't forget to grab a BOG sticker from Dave Smith, Steve Fisher or I to stick on your board for the photographers who have entered the photo contest! We have 10 registered so there should be lots of cameras checking out the action while your warming up for the event.
Saturday -
- Registration will be open by 08:00 - Please arrive early so we can get everyone signed in before the riders meeting
-Brackets are filling up quick, you need to be there prior to 09:30 to assure your spot
- Riders meeting will happen at 09:30
- Riders will be seated during the riders meeting
- We will randomly pick names and riders will get to place themselves on the bracket where they would like
- We will review the rules, safety considerations and format at this time but in short...
- you will be judged on how technical you ride, height, variety and style of riding
- this is an amateur event and attitude counts
- riders kiting towards Washington have right of way - this is Port Side and not normal protocol but this is current standard for this site
- heats will be 9 minutes long with 3 minutes in between heats
- I know this may seem a little short but 31 heats x 12 minutes = 6 hours and 12 minutes....
- Riders need to launch from the launching pad upwind of the contest, they can land their kite in front as normal
- volunteers will be present to assist with launching
- it is every riders responsibility to be on the water in time for their heat - we can only launch one at a time so please get on the water early
- Heats will start at 10:30 if possible
- Here's the order in which the heats will be run - it will be reflected on the bracket board
- Juniors - (heats 1-3)
- Mens - (heats 4-9)
- Women (10-12)
- Master (13-15)
- Junior (16-17)
- Men (18-21)
-Women (22-23)
- Master (24-25)
-Men (26-27)
-Finals
- Junior's
- Women
- Masters'
- Men
Thanks and we're looking forward to another great event,
Gary Reed

The landing area will be tight for space......As you all know the landing area is the best place for the spectators to watch from. We would appreciate it if you land your kite and carry it away as soon as you get off the water from your heat. No need to deflate, just wind up your lines and re-locate as soon as possible.

Thanks guys for all the work you have put into BOG this year, I'm sure it's going to be a great event!
I'm assuming when you state that this is an amateur event and that attitude counts, that you are not stating to be aggressive.
See ya out there.

Just like the old stickers say - Attitude is Everything
In general, what I meant by it is that if you block other people out, are unsafe, aggressive or in any other way 'unchill', it could be reflected in the scoring.
Enough said. I don't think we need to dwell on it as we are all just looking to have fun!

gary if you still need some volunteer support, hit me up tomorrow and I will see about getting some others to step up for Saturday.
We have a pretty good turnout for the breakfast volunteers, so they might still be in the spirit of helping out!
As always, I am happy to help, however not bringing the stringy fam on this trip.

And don't forget the Friday night Bridge of the Tiki Gods Party!!!
copied from Carol's post in some other thread....
All competitors and guests of the Bridge of the Gods Kiteboarding Competition are invited to attend the 2nd annual Bridge of the Tiki Gods Party following Friday's kiting photo session in Stevenson. The Tiki Gods are responsible for supplying wind at the event on Saturday so we'll be rallying to get their support!
Party Plans:
Rock Star Jam Session. Bring your equipment and musical talent and we’ll have a jam session next to the pool. Since I’m musically challenged, if someone wants to help organize this, we all would appreciate it. I’ve heard rumors that there are some very talented kiteboarders out there! (real instruments, real talent!)
Guitar Hero Challenge: Bust out your moves on the guitar hero. (fake instruments, "special" talent)
BBQ: We’ll have a BBQ grill going so bring something to throw on it or a side dish.
Hot Tub and Pool: Bring your board shorts and catch a dip.
And of course the famous Tiki Bar will be open. Bring something to contribute to the beer well or bar collection or an old or broken kiteboard with good graphics to hang on the wall.
Bring a designated driver or a sleeping bag and/or tent and plan on spending the night on the lawn. We’ll also try to car pool some people up from the launch area so we have room to park.
Location: We’ll hand out paper maps at the comp on Friday and we’ll post directions just prior to the event. It’s at Tony and Carol’s place in Stevenson.
Quick recap of the schedule of events:
Friday, July 25th, is the photo op freestyle session.
Friday night is the Bridge of the Tiki Gods party
Sat. morning is breakfast at the launch thanks to Puget Sound Kiteboarding Assoc.
Sat. is freestyle comp day.
Sat night is dinner and party at the launch with the photo slide show.
Sunday is optional wind day.
And they have camping for $10 per night at the fairgrounds, so bring your tent.
Come join us for an awesome weekend!
Directions:
Basically, from Joe's El Rio, head east, turn left at the Chevron station, right at the top of the hill, (follow the Paw prints in the road), left at the first Y, right at the second Y, (stop following Paw prints), left (almost a U turn) at the top of the hill, right on Stewart just after the Fire Station, follow the road to the top of the hill, park at the end of the cul-de-sac then walk up the driveway to the right. Party.
Edit: one request - please drive slowly on Stewart road so you don't get the neighbors upset with me. Thanks!

More party thoughts....
If you have any pics you'd like to share we'll have a projector going and can put them up on screen.
We're planning on supplying chips and salsa, some burgers and brats, and some refreshments.
If you want chicken or fish to BBQ bring it along. There will be two grills going.
BYOB
Appetizers and snacks are welcome!
If you're stuck on what to bring grab a bag of ice and some finger food.
Call us at the house 509 427 7672 or pm me with questions.
I'm thinking the party gets going around 8:30 after we all get off the water. Basically, if we're still down at the launch you might want to wait till we head up the hill!
I'll have some flyers to pass out at the beach.
