I just want to thank the guys at Windance in Hood River for providing top notch service and truthful advice. I was very unsatisfied with the shop I was buying from here. One of the reasons I switched brands was the outstanding personel at Windance, especially John Belisaro who is very knowledgeable with over ten years experience kiting. The new owner, Dave Nunn, bends over backwards to make sure you're satisfied. I ended up buying an Ocean Rodeo 12M Rise and an OR Mako Wide. I use them here in the Gorge and in the surf at the coast. What an excellent combo! I've used the Mako Wide in every condition from overpowered 7M to light 15M in surf, swell, chop, flat water and everything in between. What an amazing board! I have surfed all my life and this board surfs almost like a short board does. The more I use it the better I like it. It glides through chop and carves turns effortlessly. If you demo one ride it for awhile as it takes a little getting use to. I 'm 200+ lbs. so the smaller Mako may be better for lighter people although 2 friends of mine both bought them after trying one and they are less than 140 lbs. If you're in Hood River stop in at the Windance shop and meet the "Crew" there. And no, I am not affiliated in any way with the shop other than being a very satisfied customer. Thanks Ocean Rodeo for the great gear!

Hey Pete -
Thanks for the feedback!
There is sooo much great gear out now, it's a tuff choice no matter what brand one decides to purchase. I'm just really stoked to see you stoked "like you were the other day at upper Well's Island, ripping-it-up on your new board in the swells. Wink

The NW crew is the BEST!!!! I like being a part of it.........
John

Nice to hear a positive shop post every once in awhile (even if it wasn't mine).

Just saw this posting and thought I would throw in a couple comments too. The guys at Windance really are a pleasure to deal with, all of them know their stuff and have been an excellent addition to our dealer network. John B and Dave Nunn both take customer service and follow-up quite seriously. Anyway, enough sunshine up their butts.

With regards to the Mako Freeride Wide (150x40cm) a number of locals here have taken things in the surf with that board to the next level. Most have removed the grab handle and waxed the top surface of the board between the pads and on the tip and tail to allow mutant style riding when desired. One has even taken the pads and straps off and waxed the whole board, riding it strapless. Just throwing it out there, pretty fun results!

I look forward to my next trip down to the Gorge.

Cheers from the Island, JohnZ
