Craig's list, e-bay, the Classifieds on this forum, etc. Unless the gear is totally shot chances are good that you can get at least a little $$ for it. Post a list of what you got and somebody will take it off your hands. BTW, if you got a 2006 or later 11m I'd love first bid. _________________ It's always happy hour somewhere in the world. |

Grom,
I will get in touch with Erik Hertzens from EHKites and find out how to get the gear to the DR. If anyone will know the best way, it will be him. _________________ KB4C!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year's old gear is last years lost and found - but never claimed. I think Grom is cleaning out the kite shed.
We definitely have some old parts and pieces to get rid of. I'll see if we can come up with a list of stuff to give away. Or swap for beer.

Here is the response I got from Eric.
Hi Steve,
I really appreciate you’re the thought and effort, but transport is not our problem, Dominican Customs are.
To them a kite used or new it’s all the same, we pay shipped by sea from Miami an average charge of 90 > 150 US depending the size.
Customs go online Google the kite brand for retail value and then charge a hefty fee….
Anyway, I will dig around and see if one of the local Freight forwarders can help us out.
Regards

Another idea is to support the Collegiate Kiteboarding Association through Matt Sexton. His email is sextonmg @ eckerd.edu
Eric is right. I was lived and was partners in a school in Cabarete for three years and customs is hit miss. The first time I went through before they knew anything about kiting, they stopped me because I had 8 pumps and packages of glue. They ignored the 12 kites I had stuffed into boards bags as they were 'only plastic'. Boy, things have changed! Currently, you can bring 3 kites in with no issues. I just returned from there and golf bags go through very easily. Board bags get eyed..... _________________ Marina

So I'm cleaning out my kite shed and I'm trying to get rid of some things that I know my family will never need. However, since we run the Lost and Found out of Stevenson, we've collected a lot of stuff over the years. Mainly harnesses, but a little bit of everything. My brother won't let me throw it away, he's says there are wind starving kids in the DR (or anywhere for that matter) that would gladly take my 05 North harness that I found 2 years ago. So if you're in the Northwest and are interested in any of the gear posted below, come talk to me on the beach or write back, and we'll work out a reasonable price (beer), or if you know any way to get this gear to kids somewhere who will love it, we'd be willing to throw down about $100-$150 in shipping to get some good wind karma points. We just need a mailing address. Here's what I got:
Pro Limit 04 Large Waist Harness
Pro Limit Female Medium Seat Harness (this one's kinda old, like an 03 I'm guessing)
O'Neill Yellow and Blue wet suit top (like a throw over/under on those super cold days, or when just a little top will do the trick on a hot summer day)
North 05 Red Large Waist Harness (Pretty much brand new)
North 05 Red Small Waist Harness (Pretty much brand new also)
North 07 Blue/Grey X Large Waist Harness (We found this on the beach this year, it's also brand new)
Da Kine Thermo Form Waist Harness Black
A Black with a little Blue 6.5mm wet suit, brand new, fits a person my size
04 Slingshot Foot Straps
Caution Foot Pads (my friends say they're super comfy)
3 Safety leases for the Slingshot Surefire Spreader Bar
2 Best Chicken Loops w/ Donkey Dick, Safety Release, and Trim Rope
I also have one pair of Tevas, like a size 8 in guys if anyone would be looking for a new pair of shoes
Enjoy and please help take these things off my hands _________________ Aloha |
