I'm kicking around the idea of getting an RV. I realize they can be big, challenging to drive, and a bit of pain to get into spots, but I was wondering what people's experience is.
Our original idea was to get a small almost van-like RV. Something that allows you to drive up and kite, but allows the family someplace to chill when they want to be out of the wind and sun. The RV salesperson has us thinking about a 30 ft class C now because we have 4 people, will probably have friends with us, plus a fat ass Labrador.
I realize that a big RV will eat gas and make it difficult/impossible to access smaller sites, but I was wondering who has had one and what kind of issues (good or bad) they had, especially in relation to kiting and the Gorge and the Coast. If you don't feel comfortable posting, a PM or a phone number can help me also.
Thanks! |

me and solflyer were originally owners of a 35 foot "RTS' (mci/gmc 1990) we had
w/ the band, and matt (sol-flyer) bought it . when the band broke!!
we drove it to newhamshire w/out any prior experiance?!!
u get used to it real fast!!
u use the mirros more than the front window>>!

because of how nice it is to have youre house @ the beach!!
we take the "SOLBUS" (matt's)
TO FLORASE LAKE, PISTOL RIVER,WISKEY RUN, FESTIVALS & beyond!
hardly ever a problem 4 us!
im going to be taking my 40 foot "RTS" (gmc 1982) ("FLYBUS")
TO WINDWING SOON TO HOPEFULLY GET IT WRAPED W PROPOGANDA?!
SO i think if u r a good driver ull be ok w/ it!

I got a 22 footer while ago and never really used it. Seemed like the perfect idea packed and ready to go hang out. I still think it has promise but the family isn't into the camping thing yet. Even at 22 feet it feels like a huge tank rumbling along clipping mailboxes and making parked cars.
10 mpg makes day trips expensive and longer trips we ended up renting houses. Its at my shop if you want to check it out.
Maybe I should sticker it up and right it off as a billboard. _________________ Gorge Performance

We just sold a Class A 40' and used to live on a sailboat. Systems, Systems and systems. Keep the electronics down and you won't have to purchase replacements.
Some 40' pushers suck on the drivers' a/c, but then some class C's have a generating sink with the engine in the front.
We now have a cllass C and love it! Turns on a dime (compared to the 40') has less bells and whistles to break.
You can call tomorrow if you have any questions. 503-680-3473. Hal |
