Mon Jun 09, 08 7:36 pm Tips to speed up a depowered SS Turbo? |
|
|
I have found that as I depower the T2 or T3, it slows down quite a bit. I understand why this happens...I'm pulling in the fronts so the back lines are very slack.
I have to do this when I'm at the top end of my 11M, for instance, before its time to move on to the 7M. If the wind is up and down I like to make sure it is solid before jumping to the smaller kite.
So, that said, if I know I'm going to go out on an 11M Turbo and will be trimming it for high wind, is there anything I can do before I go out to increase the turning speed?
I found on my 11M T3, with 6ish inches of depower pulled in, it is difficult to even downloop w/o dragging a wing tip. Its fine for flat water, but in the waves the quickness is missed.
Maybe the answer is to just be on a smaller kite which is fair, or buy a 9M. I do feel comfortable with the 7/11/14 quiver, though. Its just the slowing down on the top end of the 11.
Appreciate any tips or slaps to the head. Thanks! |

| A bigger bar is about the only thing... and how much of a difference will ya see? Probably not much. Either don't trim the depower and ride it super lit, or get a 9m and ride in its sweet spot. |

| I'm afraid you are going to have to nut up and sheet in for powered up turns, get a 9 or fly a FUEL (haha) |

Thanks. Good advice and tips to nut up!
Next time I'm in this situation I'll try the 14M bar on the 11M and see how that works.
I traded my 9M in favor of the 7M because I wanted more high end. So, now I want to best manage the 7/11 spread. But yes, a 4 kite quiver would be nice luxury. |
