Tue Jan 24, 06 9:08 pm February conditions - where to go for a beginner |
|
|
My wife and I are considering a road trip in a couple of weeks, and are debating Northern Oregon or Southern Washington.
She is just starting to stay upwind, so I don't want to throw her into any gnarly conditions. Are there any spots that would be good for her this time of year? What are our chances of wind?
Cheers,

If you are interested in quick, safe progression, can I suggest Georgetown Lake in Anaconda, Montana. The riding area is 30 yards from the Lodge, winds are steady and the snow, level and even. knowledgeable kiters are on hand every weekend, and professional instruction is available from Montanakitesports.com . My cell number is 406-461-5302...drop me a line if you would like to explore this further! What kites have you flown?

I assume you are talking snow kiting..... if so, Mt hood is not bad. If you are talking about water kiting, the water is very cold. _________________ Cleverly disguised as an adult...

If you are looking to get out on the water the only sane bet right now is heading down to Bandon, and enjoy the "Bananna Belt" of Oregon. It was 70' down there yesterday! Ride the flat water on Floras lake, then go do downwinders at Whiskey Run. |

How is Floras this time of year? I assume the water's still really cold, but not 41 degrees like the Columbia, right? At the coast we normally only play at South Jetty and Siletz (50 degree water is a little more tolerable), but the wind hasn't been all that great lately... |
