Anyone here done any kiting in Panama? Any tips/advice?

I'm probably going in the end of March. From what I can gather, it's a decent time of year to go.

Wish I could go to the party this weekend Sad

but at least i have a good excuse- going to Whistler! Smile

I was there in April of last year which is the tail end of their season on the Pacific side. I flew over to the San Blas island and that still looked promising that time of year.

not sure where you will be but the closest to Panama city is Punta Chame which is 1.5-2 hours depending on how your drive Shocked

I only got one day of kiting which was at Punta Chame. I rode powered on my 11M fuel which is about average for that spot.

Itzick Lalo (itzick@cableonda.net) is the guy down there (in Panama City). he was super helpfull and let me know when and where to go to find wind.

The surf is good that time of year as well but thats 4-5 hours from Panama City.

PM me if you want more details.

If you fly into Porvenir, on the carribbean side you can hit San Blas and Bocas del toro. Our friends from the odyssey are there right now....check out their captain's logs and pictures from this link: http://www.offshoreodysseys.com/BocasDelToro/

Porvenir is a small island that doesnt have any real services. unless you have a boat waiting for you getting up to Boca will be nearly impossible.

plus its over 100 miles from Porvenir to boca.

I have not been to Boca but understand its a good surf location but the wind is not really reliable.
