What's up with the depower system on the new SS Rev? Very hard to use when loaded up-----and that's when you need it most. Kind of dicey when you can't get it to pop out of the cleat right away. Not to user friedly or is there a trick to this system. The plastic grad knob is not to easy to grad and deploy. Seems like it should be a loop handle instead.

I experienced this twice this weekend. Once it took second person pulling hard to get this to deploy for a kiter after launch.

It defeinitely takes some getting used to. If you grab it underhand with your palm facing up and pull it is easier to get the leverage. It is nice because you don't have to reach for it, but the pull/pull system of some of the other kites doesn't take as much strength.

The best way to adjust the depower cleat is while going downwind slightly to release pressure. Although, I have found that you do not need to adjust the kite that much because of the range.

It does take a little getting used to, but it's no different than the last couple years. For me, I think it works best to grab with a "fist", just as Amery does it in the this vid.

Stop edging like a madman for a second , pull quick and hard , re-cleat.

From day one I thought a longer tail to grab may be easier to leverage against but too much swingin' danglin, shizznit is no good.

you will get it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try the underhand method. Has anyone come with with a retro fit for quicker cleat release?

add a pulley at the top where the sheeting line turns. reduces friction a ton. important for light wind--when pulling the trim can luff the kite instead of trim the line.

The only issue would adding a pulley is it might end up getting tangled on something if you deploy the front line safety. Stock its set up so that nothing can get tangled (if you take a close look you will see what I mean.)

The depower cleat really bugged me at first but I have been getting used to it. One thing that helps is if you grab the rope very close to the cleat itself, thanks Tucker for that tip.

Really though you should be able to set some level of depower and then forget about it, the kite does most of its depowering within an arms reach.
