With East winds forecasted soon it’s going to get busy and crowded at spots like Viento, Rooster Rock and Stevenson East Point Kite Beach.
Regarding Stevenson launch, here’s a simple layout to help us share the space safely and smoothly:
If you’re not able to stay upwind, it’s usually easiest to exit at the playground or Bob’s beach. (Heads up: milfoil is thick in this stretch!)
This shoreline is tricky — lots of milfoil and most likely fishing nets. Best to avoid entering the river on west side of big rock point.
Suggested river entrance → safest and cleanest spot for launching. Enter east side or even by the boat ramp. Less milfoil, more fetch getting away from nets, thick milfoil, docked cruise ships and buoys.
Kite launch zone → please stack kites toward the west end of this area to leave space for others. this area is essential to safe kite launching.
Pathway to river access → let’s keep this area clear of wingfoil boards so everyone has safe access (both sides of the bluff).
Wing/board area → great spot to leave your gear while you’re not on the water. The new shower area is a great spot to leave your gear on east winds.
Wing/kite inflation area → inflate here just to east of front row parking
