baja east cape has double the fun

Just got back from a vacation in Cabo Pulmo MX. The strech from here up to Los Barilles is a good choice for combined kiting/scuba vacation from late fall to early spring.

I can verify that Ian in Los Barilles is a super nice guy and the "host" of kite-beach.

Cabo Pulmo has the only living reef on the western side of N America. Lots of natuical life to look at and a nice laid back vibe.

It's an hour drive between the two (less for a local) and also there are multiple launches in between that I didn't explore.

Amazing pristine beaches south of Cabo Pulmo as well, but to avoid a stiff downwind current I think you need to go N of Cabo Pulmo.

Sounds like Cozumel also has the combined scuba/kite scene for guarenteed fun. I'll check that place out at some point I am sure. But if you want someplace different and also a bit shorter flights the east cape is a good bet.

(sorry no pics, but if you can picture a school of fish eclipsing the sun you get the idea).

I don't mean to hijack your thread but you got me thinking of baja and thought I might take advantage and post a little slideshow I made recently from my two visits to La Ventana this winter.

i guess la ventana has grown up a bit since i last saw it as it now has a kite surf/windsurf/scuba resort. has anyone ever stayed or dove with this outfit? http://www.palapasventana.com/prices_reservations.html not super cheap but it looks like you could skip the rental car and still have options.

cozumel is probably the best overall bet for multi-fun-but with two little kids i am leery of red-eye flights.
