Just got back from Spring Break. Went to San Diego, damn if you don't have a huge board and 19m kite forget it. 12-15 mph wind in that surf requires the size.
Anywho, went south for more wind, not much there either, but I thought I would give an FYI to a location.
Rosarita, 30 mins into Mexico down Route 1. The San Diego kiters call this the "Power Plant" location.
Follow route 1 into Rosarita, you will see a large power plant on your right, right next to the ocean, pass the plant and drive into town, about a mile and make a right at the Banamex.
Banamex is a bank, the sign is blue.
Follow to the roads end, drive right onto the beach parking lot. You will be charged 5 bucks, but you will be ON the beach. You can look for street parking, but... good luck.
btw, Banamex is a good place to get or exchange pesos.
another btw, if you bring a dog, you can stay at the Del Sol motel and give them a 400 peso deposit and have the dog in your room with you. Cost 55 dollars per night on the weekday. The motel is two blocks to the south of Banamex on the opposite side of the street.
Beach was clean and the people were nice.

Rosarita is a party place, lots of fun, just as much of a chance to wind up behind bars though too.
Be very careful when you are in the towns and cities. Policia
Good Roads bring bad people , bad roads bring good people .
There are some nice spots in that populated zone, just remember why your there. To Kite or Surf
Have fun. |
