Fellow Kiters,
I have a 2018 Naish Pivot 12 that I can’t dial in. With a neutral bar the kite dips right. I’ve checked all the line lengths and they are equal in length. Is this normal for the pivot? If not, any suggestions?
Thanks. Steve |

Check Bridle attachment points also. These kites are pretty much all handmade and can have some allowable tolerances that can add up over the length of the leading-edge.
Where did you get the kite? _________________ MSN has temporarily removed commenting on our websites while we explore better ways for you to engage in discussion on the issues you care about. |

You may want to try removing the pigtails and rechecking line length. If the lines are still in tune, try checking the pigtail lengths. One of my outside line pigtails stretched about half an inch and it was causing my kite to constantly tug in one direction. I almost didn't think it was stretched because half an inch seems minuscule, but it makes a difference especially on your outside lines. I put on new outside pig tails and the problem went away. |

When u say pigtail, I’m assuming thats the steering line from the kite (about 18 in long). If so, yep the blue line (right) was about 1/4 in shorter. I stretched it out but may have to get new ones.
Good call and thanks. |

It could be either the pigtails on your kite or the bar/lines (or both) that stretched, but most likely the pigtails on the bar/lines. Slingshot pigtails are usually about 4in but OR, PKS, and some other brands make them around 10in. Hopefully this helps.

As Matt V points out, my (slightly older - 2017?) Pivots have three attachment points on each wingtip that influence the bar pressure. It took me a while initially to tune my smaller Pivots to my liking, but it was the low-end 'grunt' I was missing and got that from changing those attachments (toward the "bicep" graphics on the kite).
The kite itself should fly straight if the lines are equal length (and equal age/prestretch). If one of these points is different it would dip (I actually mismatched them once by mistake) - but pretty much unflyably, not slightly.
(I use a 2016 North bar, FWIW). |

In addition to what others have suggested, I would specifically check the pulleyline (as they tend to shrink with wear). I would check the integrity of the pulleyline and make sure the pulley can slide freely on it. I would also check the integrity of the pulley, making sure the pulley's wheel flows freely.
When checking your lines, make sure you do it under tension. A difference of 0.5-1 cm is huge.
After meticulously checking all of the lines, I would experiment and try flipping the bar upside down and see if the dipping switches. If that doesn't change, I would email Naish and ask for the bridle length specifications for this kite, and check each bridle for length and proper location. If that doesn't help, I would put the right bridle on the left and recheck. If that doesn't help, I would remove the bladder and reseat it. If that doesn't help, the canopy make have stretched on one side. At this point, I would attempt to tune the front pigtail on the kite, to get the dipping to stop, though you may notice that the kite doesn't turn symmetrically with respect to speed. |

Any possibility the leader lines at the base of the bar are in the wrong position? Or different positions? |

No, everything is in the correct position. But I did discover a small knot on each steering line. That being said, its symmetrical i.e. 1 knot on each steering line so they should balance out. Going out today, gonna fly my 9 then 12. That should help me figure out if it’s the bar or the kite. Beacon Rock anyone? |

Do other kites flown with this bar fly ok?
Bar Problem:
Are these new replacement lines?
I had a guy sell me his used bar with new lines and he forgot / lost the stopper bead when assembling it so when loaded the flag line (during flying) would lengthen via the it's connection to the yellow bungie segment. Resulting in a heavly one-direction turning kite. |
