Anyone know if the point will be open for camping?
Solo Sports is closed for the remainder of 2020.
Anyone planning to go down this fall?

And I wonder if our non-essential travel into Mexico will be permitted by October.

US just extended non essential travel across the border Til At least September. Oct is way to close and will probably be gobbled up by then!! We all need to get this under control in some way so some type of norm will come back which will not be the norm we have been used to!!

If you can get there you can camp there. The problem is getting there in these times of “essential travel” only.

thanks! Curious where you got confirmation for this?
I've always understood it's private property managed by Solo Sports.

Yes, Kevin leases the land. Can imagine he'd close off the dry camping but if you message him off the Solo Sports website I'm sure he'd get right back to you.

Being down there without the camp crowds running would be tasty. Thumb's Up

I think he only leases the land that includes the camp, airstrip and area just north of the camp. There are frequently campers not associated with solosports that park south of the camp near sandy beach or chili bowl area.

As an aside, anyone know who will be running the day-to-day with Joey gone?

That's all Kevin's too. He provides and services (sort of) the outhouses down there.

We went in '96 and at the time I didn't realize Kevin collected camping fees for those spots so we just free camped it. We went back in '16 with the luxury Solo Sports version and discovered I owed Kevin $20 plus 20 years of interest! LOL

There actually is an area down near the Chili Bowl that is outside of Kevin's leasehold. Many dirtbag campers will stay there to avoid the fees.

I don't know exactly where the cutoff is, but IMHO, it's a cheapskate way to avoid paying the meager fees charged.

Ha ha!

Probably pretty hard to find someone who wants to live in the middle of no where and wait hand and foot on a bunch of primadonnas!

LOL - that place is great for a week or two to enjoy the waves and escape from civilization. But it takes a special person to live there all season year after year, especially with KT as your boss . Which is why I wonder who they found.
