Just noticed a tear in my center strut fabric. It still holds air. Can this be repaired/patched? (see attached photo)
thanks for your time and recommendations.

i've got a kite with a center strut tear (similar but different).
i just pinch off the one pump clamp everytime. that way if it ever blows, only that strut goes. and if the kite tomahawks, all that pressure doesn't go into the strut. has been working fine for 2 seasons now, without a repair.

I had similar issue. Airtime did me right. Very inexpensive. Stronger than new.

ditto, same type of issue a few years ago. went to airtime. they gave me two options. an expensive way, and a cheap way. they recommended the cheap way, for about 15 bucks. lasted until i sold the kite a few years later.

to fix it properly you remove the strut from the canopy, open strut from the back,(doublr sewn seam like leading edge) fix it from inside, back together double sen seam, sew back to canopy. arounf $80- 100. quick and easy- pinch and sew. a little narrower right there. no big deal. $10-20.
cheapest of all, a patch you repair bladder with called Tear Aid. Pure stoke sports in Hood River sells it. probably work on that as the bladder doesnt appear to be bulging there. pinch off the strut before you finish inflating kite just in case. cheers Marc
first method maximzies resell value. recommended on newer kites, you'll recoup your money on resale and then some, pretty much invisible repair and good as new. other methods for older or kite you'll keep and fly to death.

You could put a patch of tear-aid over the weakened dacron fabric (I've done that in that before with success).

You could also extract and harvest the struts; and use them for a more noble purpose - household conflict resolution.
