I hurt my foot and I can still kite, but I don't want Columbia water getting into the wound. Anybody have a tried and true fix to wrap up foot with no water leakage?

Dude, if you can't keep water out of the wound, stay out of the river. Don't trust any wound dressing, they won't stand up to the rigors of kiteboarding. Depending on the wound, you could seal it up with super glue. Standard issue for combat medics I am told. I've used it in Baja with good results. I used to try liquid bandaids, but it doesn't hold up to water immersion except for small wounds like blisters.

Dalles wastewater treatment plant had a little “oopsie!”

Warnings for contaminated water from the Dalles to Rowena.

I’d avoid contact with the river if I had a deep wound. There’s been some nasty infections.

Try liquiband.
I paid a $30 copay and $120 bill to have a local clinic glue me up with it. The Dr. Said I could get back in the water immediately. It is really good stuff to keep around. I found some online for about $20 a tube. If you can't find a reputable looking site let me know and I can try and dig up where I bought it.
Just make sure it is clean before you glue it because it really seals the wound up. Apparently it's the 3rd or 4th generation of medical super glue and is much better suited to gluing up skin than crazy glue.

In addition to the super glue, I carry a bottle of Bactine, tube of Neosporin cream, and band-aids in the truck. Immediately after kiting with an open wound, I irrigate with Bactine, slather with Neosporin, and cover with a band-aid. Otherwise it's easy to get an infection, and hard to get rid of it. I also carry Steri-strips, good for emergency temporary sutures for deeper cuts, so that you can fully clean them out when you get home.

The river water is pretty warm right now and guess who else loves that? Bacteria of all types. The wound will take forever to heal and you stand a good chance of getting an infection - including a nasty one like Leptospirosis - just take a week off and go biking etc instead. Crazy glue is a waste of time.
