Wed May 22, 19 4:50 pm Wunderbar update |

Not much real estate available with the high water. With the prodigious quantity of sticks and the nasty blackberry thorns washing up on the beach, this is a very challenging launch. We had room for 3 kites today. If everyone that kites there this holiday picks up 20 sticks we would have room for 15 kites.
Bring some rakes down and do your part to help us maintain this launch. There was a huge stump that appeared today just off the main launch area. I moved it west and south so it wouldn't affect launching and landings. Who know where it will be tomorrow. I hit a log floating today on my foil and did a major face plant. Conditions are challenging and watch out for newbies and inform them of the conditions this holiday weekend! _________________ moondog |

A half dozen people with rakes would make quick work of it and make for a safer place to launch.
Anyone up for a work party; Perhaps Sat or Sunday morning? |

Count me in. Sat or Sun works. Wind forecasts look solid for a booming weekend ahead so let's pay some dues. |

I don't use Wunderbar but I want to help.
Every person who uses the Wunderbar is one less person at my beach |

Thanks Laird, I think I have enough volunteers from the active users on this side. We are meeting Saturday at 10:30. A couple of locals did a fair amount of raking late yesterday, but with the river going up and down so much we keep getting more deposits. _________________ moondog |

The punji sticks need to be removed. We need shovels and hand saws to dig below them and cut them off. _________________ moondog |

Fri May 24, 19 11:18 am Tools:wheelbarrow w/wide float tires, lopers, P-fork? |
|
|
1. Pitchforks will help move raked piles
2. Tree Lopers to those punji sticks will work well to cut deep below the surface.
3. I have a deep Rubbermade wheelbarrow but it has the narrow bicycle wheels.
Anyone have the one similar with the wide tires that have better float on sand? |

Maybe those cheap plastic sleds or an old tarp to drag stuff over the sand.
One hazard I noticed was lots of bees in the damp sand and flotsam. If you happen to be allergic to these critters bring your epi pen. Seems like someone gets stung every time I’m down there. Mostly barefoot folks stepping on the bees. _________________ Pull the cork. |

We still need to dig down below the punji sticks and saw them off, I doubt if anyone has done this yet. Shovels and hand saws needed _________________ moondog |
