Wed Dec 19, 18 12:53 pm Florida forum? and East or West coast better in winter? |
|

Basing ourselves in Florida for a few months this winter and getting the local kite and surf figured out. Does and active forum like Nwkite exist for Fl? I have FKSA bookmarked from years ago but that doesn't look very active.
Big decision is St Pete on the west side or Jupiter/Stuart on the east coast? Don't want to go further south than Jupiter. Anyone experience living and kiting either of these areas during winter? |

I lived in Stuart for a few years. Decent wind in the winter. Sometimes good waves. This was back in the windsurfing days, so it’s been a while. Lots of 5.6 to 7 meter windsurfing days, with a few 4.0, 4.5.
Hutchinson Island can be nice. I’d look into Port St Lucie or Fort Pierce. Jensen beach, somewhere in that area, inland, rather than on Hutchison island for more affordable housing.
Stuart is a nice central location. A couple hours to Orlando, hour to Palm Beach.
You could be in a Tampa an a few hours. Or the keys.
Lots of cool places to explore in a Florida. Expect traffic everywhere, all the time. _________________ Pull the cork. |

Check out Facebook group Kite Jam. This is a group of kiters based in the Tampa Bay area and it's kept current. Also, you could check in with Aaron Maclearnon, the pro/owner of Elite Watersports in St. Pete for info. Aaron, by the way, just hit the WOO N. America record with an 82.5 foot boost during a big wind day Dec. 21 there in St. Pete. |

Hands down Jupiter if you care about waves at all. |
